My 10 year old daughter has been having a lot of pain that the doctors (pediatrician and orthopedic dr) say is growing pains. It often gets so bad that she will be in tears and unable to walk (most of the pain is in her right thigh and foot). The pain is nearly constant but does go away with a pain reliever. This pain has been on and 9th for over a year. X-rays have come back wnl.

She has another symptom that's concerning me. She's losing weight. It hasn't been overnight weight loss though. She's lost 9 lbs over the last 6 months or so. That comes out to be about 12% of her body weight. She wasn't overweight before and at her last physical she was right at 50% for her weight. When I took her to the Dr again for her leg she was at 30% (bmi). I mentioned the 9 lb weight loss to the Dr but he's not concerned because she's still at a healthy weight.

My daughter is looking so skinny and boney and...Idk sunken in. She looks sick to me but none of the doctors she's seen are concerned. I don't know if I'm being paranoid 9 not but it just seems like there is something wrong and no one is paying attention but me.

The first 2 pictures are the before. One is from December, the other from February. The rest are from about 10 minutes ago. I figured if I show pictures then you'd be able to give me a better opinion.

Have you had her liver and pancreas tested?

I would get a second opinion. Growing pains shouldn't leave her in tears and the weight loss is concerning. Has she actually had any significant height growth?

My friend had those exact same symptoms in the same place 6 months and one biopsy later we found out she had bone cancer. Get a second opinion ASAP.

You're not paranoid. Get a second opinion elsewhere

Definitely a 2nd opinion.  Fight for it if you have to.  DS wasn't gaining weight, they blew it off.  I brought him in over and over and insisted (military clinic) that something was wrong so they FINALLY agreed to test him.  Turns out he had a rare parasite that needed special meds.  The point is, sometimes you have to make yourself the squeakiest wheel around to get a doctor to listen.
