To enter your child's room (especially those 18 and under).

I have a friend who knocks and asks her daughter if its okay for her to enter the bedroom (if door is open or closed). Her daughter is still a minor(13). Just wanted to see if this was a common thing.

Sometimes I knock, sometimes I forget. My husband always knocks though.

I knock and ask with my 17 year old and I started when he was about 9.

My dd is only 2 so no knocking there.

However if my 17 year old was to say no I would go in anyways. I can handle just a minute but not no.

Yes. If the door is closed I knock and say "can I come in". I'm not chancing walking in on my kid changing plus it is their space and I expect them to do the same for our room.

I knock to let them know I'm coming in so I don't have to see their naked butts, but I don't knock and ask permission.

My son is 10. I knock. Just like I expect them to knock for me. If I think anything suspicious is going on then I walk in. Suspicion trumps privacy.
