Someone explain AMA posts to me

I know it means "ask me anything", but doesn't that imply that they will ---answer--- the questions?

Answers don't seem to happen very often on AMA posts. And when there are answers, it's like the op is playing a guessing game.

Or am I missing something?

I don't know I think they ate stupid posts.
It's like they wanna say "I know something you don't know?" Then the random, weird "I was a bull fighter in my previos life AMA?" LOL Uh ok??

Yeah, well, it's about getting the most replies. Once we find out the answer-er isn't special or we learn her situation, we stop asking questions. That's kinda the worst thing to happen to an AMAer.

If you'd like more answers to other questions though, AMA!
