Would you consider this going above and beyond?

I am a soon to be step mom and my fiancés two kids need school clothes. I knew we would have to buy them so when he finally confirmed it I texted his youngest and asked her size and where she shopped. After she told me that I went to several sites found some clothes, took screenshots of them and sent them to her to find out if she liked them. After she told me what she liked I did the same for her brother and then bought a bunch of stuff for them online.

All together it took tops an hour of my time and the money if course came out of our joint account.

My fiancé has thanked me so many times and told me I didn't have to do it.

It was just clothes the kids needed, is it really that wonderful that I picked out and bought some clothes online for his kids?

It sounds like something a normal loving stepmother would do, and unfortunately from what I've seen on CM that does seem out of the ordinary.

Nope. I.did.the same for.dad before dh and I were married. If you don't accept his kids as yours, it will never work.

That's what I thought and that's what I told him. It's just stuff that needed to be done and since I'm more organized and money conscience I took the reign.

Normal, not above and beyond.

But I like that he thinks you're a superhero ;)

:-) I do too, and I admit the first couple times he thanked me I liked it.

I do not personally see it as above and beyond, however, when you date and have the extra baggage that are children, you usually have to lower your standards. So he may just be flabbergasted that someone was willing to do that for his kids, because he has gotten used to dealing with a lower standard, that he is shocked when he is reminded that you may be a better class of partner than what single parents usually attract. If that makes sense.
