$25 no show charge? Outrageous or Ok?

I was in the ER with my son the other day, I forgot I had a dental appointment. I had no signal because Sprint sucks. I did not get my calendar notifications and even if I had, I had no signal to call out.

I got a letter saying I had a $25 no show charge. I have been with this dentist for 2 years and have paid over $10k there getting my teeth fixed and I have recently started taking my son there.

Do you think this is outrageous? Should I laugh and throw it away or call and see if they can take it off? Would you find a new dentist?

I think it's fair and you should pay it.

Call, explain the situation and see of they'll waive it. If not, just pay it.

ALL doctors and dentists I have EVER been to have this policy and it is clearly posted in the office, usually in several locations. I think you should pay it and move on.

Call and explain that you missed your appointment due to an emergency. If it is the first time you missed they will likely waive the fee.

Yes, it is reasonable.

I'd call and explain. They may waive it this time. In general, I think the fee is totally fair.
