My Baby's Name is a Ripoff… kind of.

My boyfriend and I had a baby nearly 4 months ago, and the baby was born at 31 weeks, two days.

We had been looking at names nearly the whole pregnancy. He is older than me and we generally like different types of names so it was very hard to find ones we both liked.

I named off probably 1000+ to him and we agreed on 10 or so. Two of those on the list were Grayson and Pierce.

I went to the doctor on a whim and ended up having an emergency c-section. The hospital was VERY pushy about naming him, and we tried to put it off as long as we could to come up with a good name that fit. But since they were pushy and those were the only two that generally fit together, we ended up with Grayson Pierce (Gephart).

Yesterday, while I was on the phone with my mom, he decided to tell me that the name is from a character in a book series that he likes, by James Rollins.

I wasn't THAT mad, but irritated because I was hoping to find a unique combination of names and had hoped we achieved that. I did NOT want it to be a famous person. I also feel like he should have at least mentioned it at some point before I was on the phone with my mom. What are your thoughts on this?

I'm thinking the name is obscure enough most people aren't going to make the connection.  I've never heard of James Rollins, but I don't read that kind of fiction, either.

Eh, whatever.

Silas is a character from a TV show we liked (Weeds), and a murderous monk in the DaVinci Code.

But neither of those things are why we chose it. We loved the name.
