"My baby would never do that! She would never have sex!" Putting teens on BC

I just got off of the phone with my sister complaining about her ex dh has mentioned getting my 17 year old niece on birth control a few times already. She's been in the same relationship for 3 years. I'm not saying she's sleeping with him, but I would want my 17 year old on birth control in a relationship that long. However, in my opinion, the chance of her still being a virgin is slim, even though if she isn't a virgin she's probably being responsible and using condoms. However my sister was complaining to me "My baby wouldn't have sex at this age. I taught her better." Personally, I think she just doesn't want to see it. Would you support putting your teen on birth control in this situation?

My daughter will be on BC well before I think she is sexually active. That way ER can figure out what works beat for her and she isn't having lapses in protection while sexually active.

Only if they wanted to be on birth control.

I would educate them on proper protection though.

I hope she is talking to her daughter and not just about her because denying they may be having sex is not BC....

Yes and they both were at 16. They are now both in college and working, no babies no drugs and I am very proud of both of them!!
