returning gifts for cash

So I bought a gift for a friend's baby shower at Walmart. I got these items from her registry at target, but I bought from Wal-Mart. A bottle set (Dr. Brown) size one huggies diapers, bottle brush, baby spoons, gerber onsies and pacifiers. Well I forgot to get a gift receipt and just put the original receipt in the gift bag if she needed to swap sizes. She was happy at her shower with the gifts. Well, today I got a call from her and she was upset. I guess she returned the stuff to Walmart with my receipt and they put the money back on my credit card. She wanted me to give her cash since she needed gas money. Why would I give you money when the gifts I bought were apparently not good enough. Go pound sand. Bye bye Felicia!

I WAS planning on giving her my daughter's crib and baby clothes. I never got a thanks. She also refuses to work and lives with her mother. I called her Mom to let her know that after I was disrespected and told I needed to "reimburse" her daughter, I'm not going to give her the crib. Her mom apologized and understands why I'm not helping anymore.

Is this what people usually do when someone gives them gifts they ask for?

If she had gotten the gift receipt, she still wouldn't be able to get cash, just a store credit.

I can understand your frustration. You did something nice for her.

That's rude. And she's an idiot.

I don't blame you. You got what was on the registry and if she chose to return it that's on her. Very disrespectful on her part.

She was trying to guilt trip me. No hoe, slow your roll!
