So what the hell am I supposed to do?

I just recently moved into an apartment. Last month I paid partial rent so august is the first time I've had to pay the full amount of 1150.

When I moved in they told me I couldn't write checks because back in 2009 I had an over drawn bank account that I never cleared up. No hot checks outstanding just an over drawn account.

She said my only option was a money order since they don't take cash.

I went to get a money order from my bank and was told the most I can get on a money order is 1000 so I can either get multiple money orders or get a cashiers check. I opted for the cashiers check.

I have them the rent and thought that was the end of that but this morning I got a call from the lady and she said a cashiers check isn't acceptable since they won't take checks for my rent. I told her the only other option I have is to give her 2 money orders and she told me I couldn't do that either.

What the duck? How am I supposed to pay then?

Edit: I asked when I first moved in if I could give them cash and she said no they don't take cash for rent payments

Did they give you any other option? Cash? Card payment online?

Very good question.  Can you pay in cash and then ask for a signed receipt?

No online or credit card option?

Tell them they are SOL then because those are the only options.

That just doesn't make sense. A cashier's check should be perfectly fine and it is guaranteed money for them. I would talk to them again.

A cashiers check is guaranteed. I don't understand why they won't take it. If they insist on money orders they will have to accept 2 if you can't have one made out for the full amount.

Weird, can they not run your card? Why won't they take multiple money orders??

Add this to the list of things to figure out before moving in.

That seems odd to me. We rent and however our rent is lower my husband has gone to the wrong place and had to get 2 money orders and its never been a problem. I'd ask her where you can get a money order for the amount of rent that she would accept.
