How to you deal with the kids who's parents are neglectful and abusive? Are there things you need to help care for them that are lacking?

If I suspect abuse and neglect that is something I need to report. I'm a mandatory reporter, as are most everyone in this kind of work. I'm not quite lacking anything. I'm equipped with a lot of stuff..but my goodness do I go through a lot of supplies in a day. I go through so many ice packs, band aids, and thermometer covers it's insane. Lol.

When kids ask me to go to the clinic, sometimes I think they are just looking to get out of class. And our school nurse is so sweet to them, no wonder they want to see her instead of doing math problems.

Do you ever feel like kids come to the clinic to get out of class?

Well there is a little boy who uses a pad...but I haven't gotten any documentation from the parents as to why that is. I'm new to the school and I guess he's had a supply of pads in the bathroom since last year. He just comes in and says he beeds one and goes and does it himself. He's in 5th grade. I've asked him why he needs them and he just gets flustered and says "to catch blood" and ducks into the bathroom. It's such a mysterious thing o.o

Do you get paid about the same as a nurse in a hospital?
