So I was reading an article about parents complaing about school supplies. Parents of children who attend Mission park elementary school in salinas CA are shocked to see the 3rd grade supply list for the year. If a parent were to buy everything on the list for 1third grade child the total would be..400. Yep 400 dollars. Now that is something to complain about IMO.

No way in hell would I spend that much money on school supplies. There is just no reason for it.

We will be spending more than that. But we homeschool and it will be paid for by a program.

Right! Luckily my kids dont attend this school, i just found the article interesting. Apparently 24 percent of the students who attend this school are also considered homeless.

"Twenty-four percent of Salinas City Elementary students are homeless, so the expenses add up. Teachers said the supplies on the lists aren't a requirement."

Jesus, almost a quarter of their students are homeless?!  I would say they have much bigger problems than getting tennis balls and reams of paper.
