I got to kill someone today

I work in cardiology, and we do ICD implants (among other procedures). In order to check placement, we test the ICD after we put it in. We do that by inducing a lethal arrhythmia and letting the ICD get them out of it. Which means, basically, that we have to kill the patient (put them in cardiac arrest). Just for a couple of seconds, though! It's one of the many cool things we do at my job.

What interesting things do you do at work that most people don't get to do?

I get to work sitting on my sofa in my PJs while watching TV.

Not very exciting, and I don't work like that every day, but it's nice for those days you feel really shitty to have the option.

I inadvertently made chlorine gas in my closet at work tonight and almost died.

I got to give a whackjob woman a 'partial' root touch-up yesterday because she was too cheap to pay for the whole head.

I've painted tiny feet on fingernails.

I've had to recolor my bosses hair back to its natural color because he went off the deep end the other day and put a few splotches of bleach in his hair to see if 'maybe' he would look good with Guy Fiero's hairstyle. The answer was HELL NO on that, btw.

That's about all I've got.

It really is interesting. You are lucky :-) I always wanted to work in the medical field, but too old for college now:-(.

Visit other people's houses all day.

Once, I discovered an actual outhouse, which I've never seen before.

I write for a living. :)  I don't know that it's particurally interesting, but I'm happy in my niche.

I'm not sure I could do your job. DH has a pacemaker and when they checked his threshold before they replaced it the last time (his normal heart rate when awake is somewhere between 20-30bpm due to sick sinus syndrome) I freaked out when his heart rate dropped from 70 to 30bpm in less than a minute.
