1st Day of School Outfits.

How do you dress your kids for 1st day of school?   I have always dressed my kids in nice clothes for 1st day not quite dress clothes but I have boys so dress shorts, a polo shirt etc.

Here girls are almost always in dresses, skorts and dress shoes etc.

I am shocked at home many people on here simply throw them in t-shirts, jean shorts or basketball shorts and send them off.  Simply the pictures that have been posted for 1st day of school.

So my question is this:  Is my town outdated and dressing kids up to go to school at least for the 1st day not the norm anymore?

I sent my kid to school in jeans, a lacey shirt, and tennis shoes.

Oh, the fucking horror!

I would rather my kids look decent any time we leave the house. Then I realize it's not my body and if they want to wear a tshirt and basketball shorts so be it. At least they aren't dressed inappropriately.

My son is starting kindergarten tomorrow. I think he is going to wear some nice khaki or navy shorts, with a short sleeve button up shirt.

My daughter starts preschool on September 3rd and she is going to wear a super cute dress.

I let my girls choose what they want to wear. Usually it's a dress, but there was a year that my younger daughter had some jeans that she loved, so she wore those.

I don't have a choice. My daughter's charter school requires them to wear blue or red/blue & red, so at least there should be no clothing arguments between us. She can wear a dress or pants and stick with the requirements, has to be a collared shirt, no sweatshirts with hoods.
