Is this appropriate from my child's teacher?

My daughter came home today and told me that her teacher (she's in first grade) challenged her to do the ice water challenge. That seems inappropriate to me, 6 years old is far too young to be involved in that stupidity. What do you think?

My son challenged his teacher when he did it. And raising money and awareness for ALS is not stupidity.

I think it is dumb. Not something I would ever do let alone have my child do it.

I'm sure if they are really doing it, there will be a permission slip. First graders aren't the best for reporting information to home Correctly. My son would relay some crazy things, when he had been half listening. And I learn how to not react immediately. To wait and see what's really happening. Email her asking if the class is doing the challenge.

I'd she didn't want to do she should have been able to say no.

I don't think 6 is too young at all. My 7 year old will be doing it and he's excited about it. We will also be donating.

I don't see the big deal. My 8 year old wants to do it. It's just a bucket of cold water!

Unfortunately, my 6 year old doesn't exactly have $100 sitting in her piggy bank. I also fail to see how dousing yourself in ice cold water raises awareness for anything other than how cold it makes you.
