Sorry, my phone died. She had the foal early this morning and it's a girl!!! Twister and her baby are doing very well and I finally managed to get a couple hours of sleep. Her sister ended up in the stall with her and they both cleaned her up. My husband and the kids all woke up to watch. The kids thought it was the coolest thing ever (they thought ths sheep giving birth was gross lol). The foal is pale gray like her father.
Oh and to those who asked, I don't post pictures online. Sorry :(
I recently took in an abandoned pregnant horse (along with two other horses) named Twister (who also happens to be my horse's sister). I think that she may be in early labor! I've been checking and her teats are leaking and the muscles around her vulva have relaxed and she has been restless and pawing at the ground. I decided to sleep in Pepper's stall so I could keep an eye on her and my 2 and 3 year olds asked to join me so they can watch. They're asleep right now with the dog and Pepper but I'll wake them before the foal comes out, if it is even going to be tonight. My husband opted to sleep in the house because he has to work early in the morning. I will go to work if the baby is born before then but, if not, I probably won't go in. We put off expanding the barn until next weekend.
Anyway, I'm really excited but it's going to be a long night. She isn't wanting anything to do with anyone but me and her sister right now. My border collies is also going to act as a midwife as well because she always does. I'll update when I can!
