When I was in middle school I remember friends failing gym because they didn't shower in gym... It never bothered me in gym.. But I did have friends who to embarrassed to shower in gym and didn't and failed. What are your thoughts on this?

I think if the child is comfortable enough then they can but if not then who cares! Our gym shower was a big square box with no dividers or curtains just a bunch of shower heads. .

We weren't required to in the late 90's. Our classes were 50 minutes to change, have class, and change again. The showers were used for storage.

I didn't like it, because we had one huge shower for everyone to use... I was much more private than that!!!  I usually had teachers aide class right after, so I would wait until the locker room was empty and then go in adn shower.  We didn't fail because of it though

We only ever had the option of showering in Highschool after swim class. IF anyone actually chose to do so, it was a quick hair wash with their suits on and that was that.

I remember my mom telling me stories from when she was in school. It was mandatory and if you didn't do it, you'd get a failing grade that day.

I understand the importance of kids exercising and staying active, but I also think that gym, out of all classes, is graded way too harshly and stupidly.
