Personal finance. How to write checks and pay bills. How credit works. How to deal with debt. Etc. I mean look how effed up our country is after too many people borrowed more money than they could pay back!

Because the kids are still gonna have sex anyway!

I agree. As well as resume writing and filling out applications.

I don't see a problem with those types of classes.

We had a "real world class" in my school.

Every one was given a job, a set income and a family size. Then you had to set up a bank account, stick to budget, buy a house, pay off loans, calculate interest,.etc.

Yes!!! I honestly think it should be a semester long class every year to avoid rushing through a topic.

I agree!  I think it was my junior year...I took a class like that.  Don't recall the name of it, but it was an elective.  I loved it!  At first, I thought it was kinda lame, writing out checks and all.  But, once we got into it, it was a great class.  We learned about balancing check books, paying bills, credit cards, student debt...we had a workbook that was "our life."  Had all of our bills in there, how much our paycheck was, how much groceries ran every week and we had to figure out how to stay ahead.
