A flu and whooping cough vaccine ...... That's what  my sister in law announced at dinner Sunday night in regards to her first baby due in November . I'm just wondering if she's being over the top or if it's a reasonable request ? WWYD ? Would you still get the vaccines?:/

Nope, I guess I would be seeing the kid thru skype. People are so overprotective.

Totally reasonable.  Her kid, her choice.

I'd just be really sad I wouldn't be seeing the child for a while.

The TDAP is not unreasonable--that needs a booster every 10 years anyway.  And whooping cough has seen a resurrgence in recent years.

Flu I don't know.  That one the immunity should carry better through breast milk whereas whooping cough does not as well and can be deadly for newborns.

I guess I wouldn't see the baby. All of us have terrible reactions to the flue vaccine. Not deathly allergies but I am not willing to have four sick kids and a sick husband (plus be sick myself) to see some other person's child. Just like her kid comes first, mine come first.

I've never had a vaccine in my life, so no.  I would not.

I understand her position and I would respect her wishes but I would not get the vaccines.
