My school district started this last year in 14 Elementary schools. This year they are adding 14 more.

All students, weather English speaking or Spainish speaking, will be taught in English half the day, & spainish the other half. What's your opinion on this?

Would love to add a poll, but my phone isn't letting me

B.t.w. My older kids are past Elementary & my youngest is 2 years old.

Yeah. America is, I think, the only prosperous, developed country where the msjority of people are not bilingual.

Although it does seem like it could make it harder for students to understand the lessons.

Let's
Face it,
If a kids going to learn a second language immersion is the way to go.
My kids school does like 30 minutes once a week from kindergarten on. My fifth grader knows little to no Spanish, and they claim she's had 5 years.
I would much rather an immersion program where they will truly pick up the language.

I think it is a good thing! Knowing spanish is something that will help them in finding jobs. Around here most places won't hire you unless you speak both English and Spanish.

It works very well. The younger this is started, the easier it is for children to learn a second language.

They have those around here for the kids who come from illegal immigrant families. The kids whose parents refuse to speak English and therefor have hindered their children. They aren't very.....good. I don't know a nicer way to put it, basically I wouldn't want my children going there.

How does that even work? Do the English speaking kids spend half the day lost? And the Spanish speaking kids get to be lost the other half?

I have no issue teaching children other languages, but this doesn't seem right.
