Notify the parents because the kids were crying and complaining ...should the parents have right to know whats going on? And we live in South Florida.

Yes. The parents should be called when something like that happens. We live in Florida and are under heat advisories lately I would want a call so I could go get my boys.

I wouldn't expect my kids' school to have AC in the first place.

ETA: I either missed or the OP edited her post to say she lives in south Florida. I do not. People can live in different places.

our school doesn't have AC so such a call would never happen

last year there was a day when one of our classrooms was almost 100, nobody got called and nobody got sent home

I'm guessing it wasn't up to the teacher. When something like that happens, the principle and the district are usually making the decisions and the teachers are just supposed to deal and go along with whatever they are told to do.
