If everyone "followed the rules"

Just think of how different life would be.

Women wouldn't have any rights, it'd still be acceptable for our husbands to beat us. We'd be looked down upon for working, it used to be a woman's responsibility for cooking, cleaning and raising the children, remember?

What about if Rosa Parks had "followed the rules"?

Hmmm. The "rule of thumb " ended so long ago it's not even funny.
Progression is great. But part of progression is allowing others to oppose it. I oppose many things. I also support my opposers right to oppose me. I know this is clearly about gay marriage. If it becomes legal everywhere then fine. I support the law. But I will still be against it in my religious views. I would attend weddings and congratulate people , but I still wouldn't approve of it. That's one if the biggest progressions we have made. The right to have our opinion, to state our opinion , and to oppose others opinions.

If everyone followed the rules, there would , hopefully, be less fatal car accidents.

So if I start killing people, eventually it will become legal and accepted?

Actually if everyone had "followed the rules" from
The beginning than none if the things you wrote would never have happened.
