Not right now.

I would tell them outright. Unless they have showered and changed their clothes, they're not going to touch my child.

I'm the same way with people who have recently used hand sanitizer. I make them wash that shit off.

I don't unless they're smoking at the moment.

I don't. The only smokers I have close to my family do so outside and I can't smell it on them.

Are they smokin' while holdin' the baby? I don't see a problem if not but if you really don't want someone holdin' your baby, just say not right now. How old is the baby?

There isn't a polite way. Just let them know that third hand smoke is a reality, and since they smell like and ash tray you're concerned about your child's health, but if they changed their clothes you'd be happy to allow it.

Not unless they are actually smoking at the time.

I have no problem voicing that they are not to touch until they shower and change and brush their teeth. I do not care if it is my friend or my mom, we don't smoke and I plan on continuing to not allow my children around it.

I don't... I just ask them to wash their hands like everyone else.
