I am being selfish because I am having gastric sleeve surgery tomorrow

Before anyone rips me I have tried everything. I have been big my whole life. After 3 years of really trying to lose weight and losing 10 pounds here and there but then gaining 15 back I have decided to have gastric sleeve surgery were they cut out half of your stomach including the part that makes you want to eat. I will lose 90 pounds  in less than 4 months, as long as I do what I am suppose to do. My husband and family support me. But I have one cousin who called me yesterday and told me I was being selfish to my kids and my husband. Her reason is  I could  die and leave them. But if i do not lose weight I die in 5 years of a heart attack or diabetes. If i was 130 pounds and doing this then yes I would be selfish. I am angry at her for this because this is the same person that time and time again woud say "why dont you do something about your weight."

you're not selfish.

Are you and/or your insurance paying it?

Most people who have this surgery gain the weight back eventually. good luck to you though.

Have you had medical issues checked for? That was a consideration for me when I was at my highest weight too but they discovered I had hypothyroidism.

Blue Cross Blue shield of illinois is paying for it.

Do you have any health problems that would make her think that?

If you do what your suppose to then no. I have a few friends who had it and have kept it off. Its not a magic bullet, its a tool. Some people do not get that.

I'd feel guilty if I had surgery because I'm sitting here eating marshmallows
