Baby Led Weaning

Is anyone doing this?

We started last week with my 6 month old.  He eats Avacodos, sweet potatos, carrots, white potatos, and peaches.  We are going to introduce some other foods in the next few days.  He is doing really well.  But ohhh the mess it makes!

Does he sit up on his own, use the Pensor grasp and the tongue thrust gone?

What does this have to do with weaning. My son ate everything, I still had to cut him off from nursing at age two.

That seems like a lot of different stuff to introduce in a week. I always did one food at a time for a couple days before bringing in a new one.

Yes he does.  He started sitting up at 4.5 months.  The grasp and tongue started last week after many horrible messes.

Weaning starts when baby starts eating solids. Baby led means following the baby's cues for eating solids rather than spoon feeding.

I am really enjoying the experience.  I like that while I'm eating, he is feeding himself.

I did it at 4 months. It's progressed at a steady pace and he's now eating almost everything we eat. We are also gluten free which definitely makes it harder but it's his health that matters. It's awesome and amazing to see how capable the little ones are when they are given the opportunity
