My 4 year old asked me

What's a wet dream? I don't know what to tell him.  If I say something comes out, he might puncture himself trying to make something come out.  He has autism and is extremely literal.

How would you explain it?

Tell him it's complicated and something he will understand better when he's older.

Tell him it's involuntary, that the body does it itself. Maybe that'll discourage him from trying to force the issue.

No idea, but hope you get an answer. Btw I love Tosh.O, nothing better than politically incorrect humor.

That's the obvious answer, but I've always been open and honest with him.  He knows what sex is and the differences between boys and girls.

He's 4 that doesn't exactly seem like an age appropriate topic since it's something he isn't going to have to deal with for some time

I can't imagine a 4 year old even knowing that term to ask what it is.

Good luck.

I'd want to know where he heard that first.

Right? There's a huge difference in knowing the difference between boys and girls and actually knowing what sex is at age 4.
