my friend miscarried today....

My friend was about 18 weeks along. She started feeling period like cramping so she went to her Dr. There was no heartbeat. They had to do a D&C. I feel so bad for her. This was her first pregnancy. Besides just be by her side, what can I do? She keeps saying its her fault, that she should have done something different...I know that's not true, but I can't even begin to imagine the pain she is in.

My first pregnancy ended in one. It was devastating. Make sure you tell her it's not her fault. 'Cause it isn't. And give her hugs.

I just wanna cry with her, but I feel like that would be selfish of me. She just had a US last week and found out it was a girl. She was so excited. Had a name picked and everything already. Right now she is absolutely convinced she did something to cause this.

It's probably a cord issue. It's def not her fault 😞

Is that not normal?? Her dr offered her some kind of pills but said it would be more painful and the d&c would be faster and less painful.

I assure you she did not have a D&C at 21 weeks. A fetus is fully developed enough to require actual birthing process.

Let her be sad, and let her cry.. Comfort her, help with cleaning and cooking.

Whatever you do don't say:
"you can always try again"
or
"its been _____ days don't you think you should move on"

Everyone grieves differently.

That pregnancy wasn't meant to be.
