I tried it once with one of my kids.  Giant fail.

She didn't react at all - then went and got a spoon and asked for more.  She was about 3 at the time.

I don't understand using that as a punishment. Just doesn't make sense to me.

A tiny bit on the tongue won't hurt really. Unfortunately for my 7 year old that would never work. She will eat jalapeƱos straight out the jar.

When I worked in daycare, a coworker used to use hot sauce or black pepper on her kids. It never really worked, they were usually just as bratty.
