broken hearted little girl

My dd's dog may have been bitten by a snake. We rushed her to the vet but they are out of snake venom meds.

We are praying it was anything but a snake, but it is not looking good.

Dreading having to tell my 4 year old that the dog she has raised since birth and is basically her baby may not make it

I'm sorry. Isn't there another vet you can go to?

Hope it works out.

For some encouragment, when I was a kid, our dog was bit by a rattlesnake. She was a sick doggie for about three weeks, but pulled through. She hid under the house...no way to get to her but my brother was able to wiggle close enough to get food and water to her. She didn't eat a lot of food, but she did drink the water. She more or less ate her leg down to the bone, but then it healed up and she was healthy and frisky for another 10 years.

So, if the vets can't find anything, you might want to consider bringing the dog home and seeing what s/he will do on her/his own. Just something to consider.

:( I'm sorry. Hopefully he pulls through! We lost dd1's best buddy when she was 3. She was devastated as well. We got her a stuffed puppy that looked a little like him and said he sent it to her so she could still give him hugs anytime she wanted to. That seemed to help.
