If it is after a person, do you know who that is?

If it is after a place do you know why?

My kids' school is Alessandro Volta, an Italian physicist known for the invention of the battery.

Both schools that my girls go to are named for the city we live in. My son's school is named after the area the school is in.

This, but where I live it's many small divisions (8 streets are x town, 10 streets are y town even though they all reside in one town)
