I'm sewing something (or several somethings) for everyone on our Christmas list. Including our three kids and my stepson. My sewing machine is going to get quite the workout in the month of December. And right now I am very glad I have a large craft/fabric stash.

How old are your kids? How did you end up with no money for Christmas?

The best Christmas I ever had? I was 19 and in college. I grew up in a single parent home, things were tough on my mom. One year was especially bad and she asked what I wanted for Christmas. She had this pattern for a dress I really liked and had made me a couple already. I told her I would like a dress made from this blue and red paisley fabric (it was the late 80s) she already had. I think she knew I was trying to help take off pressure.

So for Christmas that year I had two boxes! I knew one was a dress but the second one? Was a pair of red pumps! They were vinyl but very pretty. I was so thrilled, I cried. I remember to this day how much that homemade present meant to me. Because every stitch of the dress she made was made with love,

Neither question is relevant. If they don't have it, they don't have it, but there will still be gifts. Christmas isn't about how much money you can spend on things and spoiling your kids.

Good for you!  Maybe you could also have the kids make gifts, at least for each other.
