How to fix an infected cut? First Aid Mamas, get in here!

Earlier this week I was cutting raw chicken and ds was talking to me, I was multi tasking, and not paying attention.

I ended up cutting what I thought was chicken, but was in fact my index finger :/

It hurt a little bit, but I was laughing at the time (for mistaking my own finger for a piece of chicken!) and didn't worry to much.

Now, it's been a few days and it's turning red around the cut and actually hurts to the point it's uncomfortable.  I put some peroxide on it and a bandage.

I'm going to the pharmacy today, what should I get for it?

*It's not bad enough to see a doctor about.

is it hot? swollen? if ether of these are true you need to see a dr ASAP. My daughter ended up with cellulitis from a simple rose prick.

Once an infection sets in then you need an antibiotic to clear it. Nothing you do now will help. The infection may be in your blood stream. If red lines radiate out from the cut and up your hand/arm, you need to see a Dr. ASAP.

not hot or swollen, I'm keeping an eye on it for those symptoms though.  Just red, no puffiness and hurting, no heat.  I want to try and take care of it at home before it gets to that point.

Hot pack it and put anti-biotic ointment on it.  If you notice a red line going down your finger from the cut then you will have to go to a doctor.

I have honey in the kitchen, manuka and pasturized clover.  Manuka?

Wash it really well with soup and water. Dry with a clean towel. Cover with neosporin, then with a bandage/band-aid. Repeat until clear.
