My neighbor overstepped his bounds

So today makes one month since we moved to our new home.
The old house isn't sold yet. My husband stopped at the old house the other day to find that our next door neighbor had chopped down some rose of Sharon trees we had in OUR yard, not his. In order to do this he had to come over our fence.Additionally he had the balls to throw all the tree scrap debris in front of our over head garage door making it impossible to use without first moving all the tree scrap.
He's always been a douche. This I guess was his final gift of douchie-ness.
So glad he will be someone else's crabby crappy neighbor and not ours.

I would call the police and file a property damage report.

If we still lived there I'd let my dog poop in his yard for immature sweet revenge.
The city will pick up the yard debris, we will have to figure out a way to not make it look crazy and more appealing for potential buyers.
Honestly I don't want to deal with confronting him because it won't get anywhere and I will end up the one upset for days.
