So when I named my child I made a terrible mistake. I want to fix it now. She has a wonderful middle name (Nancy) does anyone know how bad the legal process is in Illinois?

I would consult a lawyer. You probably have to go to court and have it ordered by a judge. No idea how to do that... sorry.

It's not bad at all. $400 filing fee, you have to run a newspaper ad for a while, then you go in front of the judge. It gets a bit more difficult if there's a father that needs to agree.

It was easy in jersey. Filing fee and fill out a form. That was it.

Even though she is only a small child? I thought that was only for adults.

She had to run a newspaper ad for changing a child's first name?? Why?
