Some adults could take a lesson from this first grader

DD is in first grade. She has a little guy in her class that just loves her to pieces and she loves him too. I noticed that she was coming home with small toys. I assumed she was winning prizes for good behavior or spelling games or something. After a few weeks, I asked her where she was getting the toys. She told me her "boyfriend" brought them to her. I made a comment about a first grader having money to buy things like that. She said, "He doesn't buy them. When his mommy takes him to McDonalds, he gets a girl Happy Meal so he can give me the toy." His mom works at the school and she confirmed the story. That may be one of the sweetest (and most thoughtful) things I've heard in a while. Sometimes, we would do well to learn from the tenderness of children.
