I'm about to eat this chicken...

I bought it on Monday. The sell-by-date isn't until tomorrow.

They're individual vacuum packed packages or chicken thighs. They smell fine when I rinse them.

Would you do it?

If they haven't been frozen, no. Do not eat them. The shelf life if that after buying without freezing is about 3 days. I wouldn't risk it!

...even if they don't smell?

LOL Um, yes. Just because food doesn't smell bad doesn't mean it's good for you. I live with a chef. Even he says "no, throw it out." If you froze it right away then it's good for much longer.

People really throw away too much food.

As long as you've kept it cold and it's not too far past the sell by date, it's fine.

That doesn't mean anything. If thawed chicken sat in my fridge for 4 days, I'd throw it out!
