Every year its the same argument and im sick of it.

My hubands family comes to my house xmas eve for chinese and pizza. Its a lot of people, his 6 brothers and sisters their spouses, kids and his parents.

We also see every one of these people on xmas day.

The problem.....his sisters always want to do gifts on xmas eve. However my family does not open any gifts on xmas ever...at all, ever.

I tell them every year that if they want to open gifts, go ahead do gifts....but bring my kids gifts on xmas when we see you then.

But of course thats not good enough for them. I wont budge. They can bitch all they want.

Your kids, your decision. They should respect that. Stupid thing for them to argue with you about.

so then your kids get to watch everyone else open presents?

Can't they just open like 2 and then the rest the next day.

My oldest is 14. And weve been hosting xmas eve now for 11 years.

Every year this is a problem.

Do you want to know how to quit making it a problem? Quit hosting.

You've let this go for 11 years, why make an issue of it again.  I think if you are celebrating with his family as the majority it should be his family traditions.  If it were your family as the majority, then your family traditions.   Why doesn't anyone else host?

You should pick and choose your battles better.
