Major Depression?

My cousin's psychologist has urged her to apply, I've heard it is a very hard process and even harder for illnesses you can't really see (mental vs physical).

I get SSD for a mental illness. It required a lot of documentation from all of my doctors to get approved.

If you don't mind answering, is it for MD or bi polar?

You have to provide proof of how your depression or mental illness affect you day to day.

I get it for that but I also have other disabilities too! I have 3 bulging disks, severe and chorionic asthma, diabetes, arthritis in both my knees, plantar fashiatis, PTSD, anxiety, and diabetic neuropathy in my legs and feet.

I applied in June of 2008 and was finally approved October 2010.

I have a friend who gets it for major depression and anxiety! But she has gotten disability since 1995.

How long did it take your mom? My cousin really suffers horribly with major depression :( I hate that people discount it so much just because you can't see it

She was denied 3 times and the last time she got an attorney and it took a year and half after that. It is difficult because MD is just another word for bipolar but they actually want the word bipolar in the medical paperwork.
