I want to be tolerant.

My son is 4 and ever since he learned how to speak or kind of speak, he pretends he is a race car. When I started asking him if he was a race car driver, he would say no I'm a race car. He does it all the time. I'm starting to think he doesn't want to be a boy anymore... Should I start buying car parts and treat him like a car? I want to be tolerant of what he wants to be. I feel like he might be born that way, but I have always had a hard time believing that statement until I had him. Teach me to be tolerant! What should I do?

Parents who have children who are transgender. People who are transgender (there are several on this site). Those struggling with gender identity. Should I continue?
