Dead from a hip fracture

Just found out that my friends mother died today. A few months ago she fell and thought she broke her hip. The dr said it was too swollen to tell and to go back home. A week ago my friend convinced her to go see the dr again since she was in agony. Turns out multiple hip fractures. They transferred her to a nursing home two days ago for rehabilitation (didn't operate) and today she's dead. Everyone's still shocked.

That's horrible. Swelling wouldn't alter an x-ray film though, that doesn't make sense. It could affect when they surgery, but not getting a picture of the bone.
What did she die of?

That is how my sister in law's mom died. I hear that death from a hip fracture in old age isn't uncommon.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Unfortunately its pretty common. Bone pieces break off and cause infections. Those infections cause other problems. Happens pretty fast.

I am sorry for your friends loss.

My friend is on the way to the hospital. They haven't told her yet. Just that she died "peacefully". I'm wondering if it's a blood clot

Its very common its not the broken hip that kills you its usually a blood clot from lack of circulation.
