I have a 13 week old dauchshund puppy. He us driving me up the wall! We are using the humane society reccomendations to pad train him. He just cried so much. Like, he never barks! Just whines.
He whines on a leash
He whines to play
He whines to lay down
he whines to eat/drink
He whines when he's alone
He whines to be left alone
He whines inside
He whines outside
He whines to get up on the bed
He whines to get down from the bed
But he ESPECIALLY whines about the pads

I want to rip my hair out!

Hounds are notorious whiners. Is he new to the house? It might take some time for the pup to adjust.

I have cats too. And an old dog I got. He was a stray. Animal control picked him up and put him through a prison training program. He's an angel of a dog. I've had a dozen dogs before this one and none have ever been so frustrating

Why are you pad training?  Why not just train him to go outside?  I found the pads to be a bigger problem than training to go outside  He's just a puppy, he's scared, he hasn't learned how to communicate best yet.  Be patient and feel better.

He doesn't have the bladder control t train outside yet, he can't hold it for 20 minutes without piddling on something. They go out 8-10 times a day, and he still pees in the house 40 times a day. We will transition to outside when he is bigger
