What do you do...........

When dealing with toxic or boundary stomping family members?   You know the ones I mean.  "My house, my rules, you don't need to listen to mom and dad."  Those people.  The ones who tell you all that you're doing wrong in your life and how you're screwing up your children.  The ones that scream and pick fights with you.

How do you deal with them?

I talk to them about it. If they continue to be toxic, I distance myself.

I don't have any of those, Thankfully. We just had to cut out the booze bags. Cut them out. they don't add anything to your life. They drain you and exhibit terrible behavior. Which isn't anything your kids need to see or hear.

Cut them out. Easy peasy.

 Limit contact with them.

We had to do that with SIL a while back. She was just so self absorbed that she treated everyone else like shit. We saw her for holidays and family get togethers, but avoided her the rest of the time. Over time she got better and had a wake up call. She is still self obsessed and thinks she can do no wrong, but she does treat others better.

I don't have those kind of family members, thankfully! I can't imagine how hard it is to deal with.
