Cupboard or pantry? Where do you live? Are they different things or the same to you?

*I heard someone use cupboard when talking about a pantry.

To me cupboards and cabinets are the same thing. They are above and below a counter.

Pantries are a closet type space that holds food.*

A cupboard is the thing that hangs on the wall in the kitchen.

A pantry is a walk in room.

ETA: or I'd call a closet type of them that holds food a pantry, even if you can't walk into it.

Cabinet in the kitchen closet if it's small with shelves and a door, pantry if it's a separate room.

Cupboards are what is above and below the counter. A pantry is like a small closet with a door to store food in. I've lived in the south and north and that is what people call it in both places.

I don't use the word cupboard. I don't really hear it IRL either.

Above and below my counters = cabinets. They hold spices, dishes, glasses, coffee/tea/sugar,

Full length with lots of shelves = pantry. Entirely full of food products.

Are you really trying to ask about cupboards or cabinets but not pantries?
