I'm getting back $ 5,500.00 but my tax preparer charged me $300 to file my taxes...

I do my own online for free. Why pay someone for something you can easily do yourself?

Should have used Turbo Tax, we're getting 9k back and they charged $100.

Dh doesn't get charged a penny. I use to get charged $60 for $5k, it actually went up $10 a year, but since we've married I've become a sahm so it's just him filing.

Did you go to H & R Block? They rape you...cracks me up too. Hearing year after year here of course what moms pay to have taxes done and what they pay for essentially a loan to have then next day.

That's pretty standard for a simple return, at a CPA office.
