Still think low oil/gas prices are awesome?

My town's unemployment rate has gone up to 40% in the last 2 weeks. Hard times are here, again, for many people. It's so sad :(

It's not awesome here either, if it doesn't turn around we are looking at a recession. So many people are already laid off.

Yeah, I do. I love them.

Maybe it's time for this country to find some more sustainable resources.

I went from paying $60 a week to $30 a week for gas. I am saving $120 a month, combined with my DHs savings, we are saving $300 a month on gas, causing us LESS financial stress. YES, I am DAMN happy about gas prices. While there are disadvantages for one group, there are ADVANTAGES for another group. That's how life works.

We've both been through layoffs, back in 2008 and 2010. I'm a teacher, so budget is always a scare. We got through it, and life went on.

It's been good for my neighborhood. Our local small businesses are booming because people have extra money to spend. So, yes, they're a good thing.

So we're supposed to feel bad because people in the industry have to look for jobs elsewhere, even though we've had to suffer through the same thing for years?

Yea...No. I still think the prices are awesome.

I think the oil companies did it to themselves. When the prices were up and demand was high they hired liked crazy and paid fairly high wages thinking that there was no end in sight. Well guess what? What goes up must eventually come down. It is simple economics, the bubble burst. I feel bad for those people who lost their jobs but if you look back on economic trends, this happens.
