Is it ok to have your child sit in the passenger seat up front?

I think 12 is the recommended age.

When they're out of a booster seat..that's what I did with mine. When they could sit in the backseat without a booster.

But things have changed since then (my kids are 20 and 18), some airbags have a weight sensor that turn them off if the person sitting in the seat is less than "X" pounds.

Haha. I just deleted an old post of mine that asked this question. Most said 12ish.

I think its 12 but must be a certain weight. I honestly don't know. I have my 4,5,8 year olds in a booster. My ds is 10. He sits in back but if its just me and him on a short drive I'll tell him to come sit upfront with me.

Adult size.  Some 12 year olds are not big enough and some 10 year olds are taller than their parents.

12. I'll let mine sit up there on short trips, though, if the car is equipped with airbags that turn off if the passenger is below a certain weight.

12+. After puberty, the bones are more like adults and able to better withstand crash forces.
