I'm tempted to starve her

Not really. But my 8 year old has been ridiculously whiney and dramatic for the last few weeks. We are low on groceries but we had enough food to make breakfast sandwiches. She refused and started to throw a fit. She doesn't throw fits, my kids have never really done this. I made her go to her room. She is now refusing everything. We're supposed to go out for lunch. I'm not going to starve her. I'm going to not order her anything and instead I'll ask for an extra plate then we can all give her part of our meals. Any better suggestions?

Just no. I would order my child her own meal. I would not punish with food.

get her her own meal and if she still throws a fit, then some discipline is necessary

Why can't she just have her own meal? I get she's being a brat but I don't think giving her everyone else's food sounds right...

I just wouldn't take her out for lunch. Make lunch at home. Don't reward bad behavior by treating her to a lunch out

We don't use food as punishment.

We're meeting a friend for lunch. We're not going out for lunch because we have no food. Just to meet a friend.

Almost all of her fits have been food related.

I never let food become a control issue or game. You handled the breakfast situation well. She didn't want to eat, fair enough, her choice. No food until the next scheduled meal and that's lunch.

She deserves her own plate.
