Since when is Easter the new Christmas?

Reading what everyone is giving their kids for Easter is kind of making me shake my head.

I'm still in my 20's, and for me as a kid Easter was all the cousins at Grandma's house and she gave us each a clean Styrofoam meat tray with grass, two onion - skin died hard boiled eggs, and some jelly beans.

I do a little more for my kiddos - they have actual baskets, lol. With some jelly beans, peeps, and a chocolate bunny. Sometimes the Easter bunny will leave "footprints" I made out of baby powder. Isn't that enough?

When did Easter turn into second Christmas?

I know, it's crazy. I spend maybe $20 per kid and they have a fun Easter morning.

DS gets the same as I got as a kid. Candy, stuff to get ready for spring, things like swimsuits and pool toys and a couple movies.

I think it's been that way for a while. My youngest is 26 & I used to make ridiculously huge baskets with toys & candy & a bunny even when they were little.

It's got to be fairly recent. Mine used to hunt for hard boiled eggs and get a couple candies and 1 little toy with a bunch of Easter grass. Lol
