Was this rude? If so, I don't care!

Every time I see this woman she asks about the kids I watch and how it's going. The other day, she asked so I told her about the new baby I'm watching.
Also, every time I say how it's going, she asks if my df is helping me out during the day.
So again she asked, and I said "no, just the kiddos and me" and she widened her eyes and said, "I can't believe he doesn't help you!"
Now you have to remember that she says this every single time and I'm pretty suck of it so I answered,
"Does B (her dh) go to your office every day and sit at your desk with you and help you do your job?"
"No"
"Do you think I can't handle my job?"
"No"
"Ok, so please stop suggesting that I can't do my job on my own and stop looking down at my df for not helping. It's not his responsibility to care for the kids, it's mine!"and then I walked away.

Why would she think he should help? Is he home? Does he not work?

If he is on his ass at home and not working, I agree with her.

She just sounds passive aggressive. Looking for a weakness so she can get a dig in.

Wow, kind of rude, but you did make your point. How many kids do you babysit for?

Does he work? If not, she's trying to not so subtly tell you she thinks he's s lazy ass.
