I'm struggling with a dilemma and need some insight.

Posting here, it's obvious that I'm desperate.
Here's my dilemma: DF and I have been together for almost 6 years. He wants us to get married like now. Obviously, I see myself marrying him or we wouldn't be engaged. I've always wanted a big wedding, but I also don't want all the drama that comes with one and I don't want my mother to try and fuck it up.

So, should we just elope? Or should I plan a wedding?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I loved planning my wedding. Just keep it simple.

Yes. That's why I'm so torn.

You should plan a not-as-big wedding. Don't give up any of the control.

That might be what we do.

You could do all the planning with the two of you and then let others know the info. The date,place,etc...and once you have all those details in place talk to those whom you want in your wedding and your parents.

You've been together for ages and I'm assuming you have kids since you're here. Just go to the courthouse and go out for dinner afterwards.

Plan a medium size wedding, keep it simple, and only invite your mom to very specific things like helping choose a dress.

I worried about the same thing but I'm planning a big wedding. Here's my position and leverage 'are you paying?' No? Then shut your trap.

It works.

There's a happy middle.  Have a small ceremony followed by an awesome party.  The most fun wedding I've been to in years was last summer- they got married in a park, and the reception was just a great BBQ party.  It was their style, 100%... no weird drama.
