Do you have this breed of cat? I'd love to get a cat but I am allergic and I heard that these cats are hypoallergenic!

No such thing. They have curly coats and that may cut down shedding but no animal is hypoallergenic.

It's the oils and skin that cause allergies.

I've never heard of that breed, but we have a hypoallergenic cat. It's a Siberian.

Im allergic too.

Ewe! That's gross. Thanks for the info!!

Quoting stacey541: I can't get over the fact that they leave oily residue around. I would prefer fur to vaccume than cleaning up oily spots. (No allergies)

I was mistaken! I was thinking those were the fully hairless kind, it looks like they have fur so it probably wouldn't be an issue.

You're welcome  ☺️

I'm really allergic (unfortunately) and our cat doesn't bother me at all. Good luck!

My kids really want a cat too. My sister has a rescue cat and I can visit her for 1/2 an hour then I start to sneeze like crazy. Thanks for this info. Have a great day! :)

There are a few cat breeds that are considered to be hypoallergenic...Siberians being at the top of the list. All it really means is they produce less of the, protein Fel D1, which is the allergen in cats saliva that causes a reaction in people.

Here is some info on that along with top listed hypoallergenic cats

I have a Russian Blue and my son who has allergies has no reaction to her.
